RingtailXL Version 2.03 is now available for Beta testing.

Version 2.03 has been tested with all versions of Excel from Excel 2000 to Excel 2007, inclusive. It is complete, including user documentation and Help.

Release 2.01 operated only on machines set to English language and may not operate without problems on machines set to different cultures (it was developed on a machine set to United Kingdom English).  Release 2.03 should function across languages and cultures, with the sole reservations that the sample data will only work on machines set to English language and that it will be incapable of translating files created on machines with different language installations of Excel.

While designed with financial modelling in mind, RingtailXL  is relevant for any Workbook designed to project the values of variables over time, and which thus require a timeline across the top.  It is particularly applicable is certain circumstances.   The system was developed with project finance Models in view and thus, currently, the time line periods can only be at Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly or Annual intervals.  Some users may require timelines more finely or coarser grained than these.  For them, I would be delighted to add periods not yet programmed.

People downloading RingtailXL for evaluation are encouraged to report any anomalies they discover.  As anomalies are reported in Release 2.03, these will be reported on the website.

After the Beta testing process I will decide whether I want to make RingtailXL generally available on a commercial basis.  Individuals who have participated actively in the Beta testing process will, however, be able to continue to use the first commercial release of RingtailXL without charge.

If I decide not to make RingtailXL available on a commercial basis, individuals who have participated actively in the Beta testing process will be supplied without charge with a version of the system which is not time limited and will be licensed to continue operating this version.

If any organisation is interested in the concepts described but is concerned about downloading a piece of software from an unknown source onto their network, why not do so on to a stand-alone machine and evaluate it on that?  If it proves its worth, the security concerns can be addressed in due course.
