The final Workbook

Shown above is a portion of the calculation sheet of the Workbook, generated from the RingtailXL Components, Skeleton and Model shown on earlier pages.  The Component structure provides the modularity of the Workbook, and the rows defined by each Component are grouped.  Note that the selected scenario and the number of failures on the checks sheet are reported on the calculations sheet.

The Workbook has a sheet for each scenario, and scenario switching is accomplished by an Excel Main Menu command which allows the user to select the scenario required.  There are also sheets for each Report and Chart sheet generated, and for the checks.  Finally, there is a sheets showing the Worksheet parameters, ie, start date, periodicity &c and a sheet called “Provenance”, which shows the date generated and gives all the documentation of all the elements from which it has been made up by RingtailXL.

If data is changed during the session after generating the Workbook (perhaps following some goal-seeking operation to optimise the data) the user will find that the Workbook cannot be closed from Excel.  Instead, the user is prompted to return to RingtailXL, where the option is given to read the Excel data back into the RingtailXL Model file.  Once done, the optimised Workbook can be regenerated at any time.

If any change is made elsewhere in the Workbook, this is highlighted to put any reader on notice that it has ceased to be as originally specified.
